e-ISSN : 2807-1328

p-ISSN : 2775-2399

DOI : https://doi.org/10.57079/lux
Institutum Theologicum Ioannis Mariae Vianney Surabayanum id-ID Lux et Sal 2775-2399 Tahun Yobel dan Harapan https://jurnal.imavi.org/index.php/luxetsal/article/view/137
Pope Francis has proclaimed 2025 as a Jubilee Year, highlighting a profound message of hope, especially amidst the pressing challenges confronting the modern world. The Holy Father invites the faithful to anticipate the good things to come. To better understand its significance, this article aims to explore the biblical roots of the Jubilee Year. The first section examines the possible origins of the Jubilee Year within Jewish tradition. The subsequent section focuses on the specific regulations of the Jubilee Year as outlined in the Book of Leviticus and considers the feasibility of its implementation. It is suggested that the Jubilee Year may not have been fully realizable for the Israelites. Ultimately, Jesus is presented as the one who fulfills the essence of the Jubilee Year.
Iswadi Prayidno Hak Cipta (c) 2025 Iswadi Prayidno https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 5 2 57 65 10.57079/lux.v5i2.137 Indulgensi di Tahun Yubileum https://jurnal.imavi.org/index.php/luxetsal/article/view/134
Indulgences and the Jubilee Year hold a close connection within the traditions of the Catholic Church. The Jubilee Year is a special period in the Church's calendar, typically celebrated every 25 years, although the Pope may declare an extraordinary Jubilee for significant occasions. During the Jubilee Year, Catholics are invited to engage in repentance, spiritual renewal, and receive special indulgences.

An indulgence itself is the remission of temporal punishment due to sins that have already been forgiven. A renewed examination of Aquinas' thoughts on Hope, as one of the three Theological Virtues in Summa Theologiae, illuminated by Robert Spitzer's explanation of the various levels of happiness, emphasizes that the fullness of human life, particularly when reaching the highest level of happiness, lies in the relationship with the Transcendentals: Goodness, Beauty, and Love. This implies the necessity of self-transcendence for the realization of a truly fulfilled human existence.
Satriyo Widyatmoko Hak Cipta (c) 2025 Satriyo Widyatmoko https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 5 2 77 84 10.57079/lux.v5i2.135 Teologi Pengharapan Jürgen Moltmann dan Sumbangannya bagi Moral Sosial Katolik https://jurnal.imavi.org/index.php/luxetsal/article/view/138
Every religion has a duty and vocation to contribute to the common good. This duty and vocation is lived through a way of life that is not separated from the context of people's lives. Religion that exists in this way is able to bring hope to the world. Jürgen Moltmann reflects on this religious duty and vocation with the idea of a theology of hope. Hope is based on the idea of eschatology. Moltmann asserts that God is involved in the history of the world. The center of hope is the crucified God, a God who is involved in and sympathetic to the concerns of humanity. Moltmann then emphasized that the Church needs to always present a messianic, relational, and populist side. Moltmann's idea of hope can be one of the inspirations in reflecting on the call of Pope Francis during his visit to Indonesia and to reflect on the Ordinary Jubilee Year 2025. The Church in Indonesia needs to grow by faithfully encountering the people, being inculturated, and having a macro view of life together.
Ferdian Dwi Prastiyo Hak Cipta (c) 2025 Ferdian Dwi Prastiyo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 5 2 85 94 10.57079/lux.v5i2.138 Manusia sebagai Peziarah Harapan https://jurnal.imavi.org/index.php/luxetsal/article/view/139
Pope Francis has declared 2025 as an Ordinary Jubilee Year with the theme Pilgrims of Hope (Peregrinantes in Spem). Amid a world grappling with various crises that threaten humanity and the natural environment, the Pope emphasizes the importance of hope, asserting that Christian hope never disappoints. This hope is not mere optimism or a denial of suffering and death but a virtue rooted in faith and realized through acts of love. In the tradition of Western philosophy, hope has also been a significant topic explored by Gabriel Marcel, a French philosopher, playwright, and music critic. This article seeks to uncover the strong correlation between Marcel’s philosophical reflections and Pope Francis’s magisterial teachings on hope. For Marcel, hope is fundamentally an inner drive that motivates and emboldens individuals to respond to the ontological exigencies of their existence, even while inhabiting a "broken world" that seeks to alienate humans from themselves, others, the world, and God. For Pope Francis, hope is a call of faith to seek and realize the common good, including care for creation, amidst the multifaceted crises of humanity and the environment.
